While northern Italy is known worldwide as a premier location for snowing and sledding, it’s not the only place in the country to go for winter fun. The region of Abruzzo, which boasts the highest peak of Apennine Mountains, is the go-to for many skiers in Rome and central-southern Italy.
If you’re in Rome and craving some snow, Campo Felice is an easy winter day trip. Here you can rent sleds and skis, and there are a couple of restaurants and snack bars on-site.
Ovindoli, another ski resort in Parco Naturale Vileno-Sirente, is also popular with Romans.
