The 2023/24 Serie A season runs from August 19, 2023, until May 26, 2024.

The three newly promoted teams this season—Cagliari, Frosinone, and Genoa—have all seen top-flight action in recent years. Cagliari and Genoa both spent just one year in Serie B before climbing their way back up to Serie A, while Frosinone was last here during the 2018-19 season.

Here are the 20 squads competing for the scudetto for the 23/24 season:

Serie A Tickets

If you are planning your trip around seeing a soccer match in Italy, keep in mind that “match day” refers to the weekend that the games are played. The majority of Serie A matches usually take place on Sunday, but the league may also schedule matches on the Saturday before or on Monday evening.

As of this writing, the exact date and time of each match has not been released. Tickets are usually not available for sale to the public until about 2-3 weeks before each match. You can buy tickets via team websites or official Serie A ticketing sites VivaTicket and TicketOne. You may also find tickets available from secondary ticketing sites like StubHub, Ticombo, and ViaGoGo.

Following is the schedule for the 2023/24 Serie A season.

*Home teams are listed first

Match Day 1— 20 August 2023

The biggest draw of Match Day 1 is that it’s the first weekend of the new season. Newly promoted Frosinone will host 2023 Scudetto winner Napoli in what is practically a derby (Frosinone is located in southern Lazio, about halfway between Rome and Naples). There’s also a derby—Inter vs. Monza is the Derby della Lombardia (Lombardy Derby).

Bologna – Milan
Empoli – Verona
Frosinone – Napoli
Genoa – Fiorentina
Inter – Monza
Lecce – Lazio
Roma – Salernitana
Sassuolo – Atalanta
Torino – Cagliari
Udinese – Juventus

Match Day 2 — 27 August 2023

Most of Match Day 2 fixtures look to be competitive. But my best bets for the most interesting ones are Verona vs. Roma, Juventus vs. Bologna, and Napoli vs. Sassuolo.

Cagliari – Inter
Fiorentina – Lecce
Frosinone – Atalanta
Verona – Roma
Juventus – Bologna
Lazio – Genoa
Milan – Torino
Monza – Empoli
Napoli – Sassuolo
Salernitana – Udinese

Match Day 3 — 3 September 2023

With four Lombardy teams in Serie A this year, there will be quite a few Lombardy derbies. Match Day 3 sees a Lombardy Derby between Atalanta and Monza. Must-watch fixtures this week are Inter vs. Fiorentina, Napoli vs. Lazio, Roma vs. AC Milan.

Atalanta – Monza
Bologna – Cagliari
Empoli – Juventus
Inter – Fiorentina
Lecce – Salernitana
Napoli – Lazio
Roma – Milan
Sassuolo – Verona
Torino – Genoa
Udinese – Frosinone

**International break: September 4-12**

Match Day 4 — 17 September 2023

Derby della Madonnina! Inter will host Milan at their shared stadium (Giuseppe Meazza/San Siro) on Match Day 4. Juventus vs. Lazio will be another one to put on your calendar.

Cagliari – Udinese
Fiorentina – Atalanta
Frosinone – Sassuolo
Genoa – Napoli
Verona – Bologna
Inter – Milan
Juventus – Lazio
Monza – Lecce
Roma – Empoli
Salernitana – Torino

Match Day 5 — 24 September 2023

On Match Day 5, we’ve got another quasi-Derby del Sud with the fixture between Salernitana and Frosinone. (I made up the name Derby del Sud). Otherwise, Bologna vs. Napoli and Milan vs. Verona look interesting.

Atalanta – Cagliari
Bologna – Napoli
Empoli – Inter
Lazio – Monza
Lecce – Genoa
Milan – Verona
Salernitana – Frosinone
Sassuolo – Juventus
Torino – Roma
Udinese – Fiorentina

Match Day 6 — 27 September 2023

Match Day 6 falls on the birthday of Francesco Totti. His Roma will be at Genoa this week, alas. Other key match-ups this week are Frosinone-Fiorentina (FRO looking strong as of this writing) and Juventus-Lecce (Lecce also playing well so far this season).

Cagliari – Milan
Empoli – Salernitana
Frosinone – Fiorentina
Genoa – Roma
Verona – Atalanta
Inter – Sassuolo
Juventus – Lecce
Lazio – Torino
Monza – Bologna
Napoli – Udinese

Match Day 7 — 1 October 2023

The Lazio Derby featuring Roma and regional rival Frosinone takes place on Match Day 7. But I think Milan-Lazio will be the game of the week.

Atalanta – Juventus
Bologna – Empoli
Fiorentina – Cagliari
Lecce – Napoli
Milan – Lazio
Roma – Frosinone
Salernitana – Inter
Sassuolo – Monza
Torino – Verona
Udinese – Genoa

Match Day 8 — 8 October 2023

Juventus hosts cross-town rival Torino in the first Derby della Mole of the season on Match Day 8. Other fixtures to watch include Inter vs. Bologna, Lazio vs. Atalanta, and Napoli vs. Fiorentina.

Cagliari – Roma
Empoli – Udinese
Frosinone – Verona
Genoa – Milan
Inter – Bologna
Juventus – Torino
Lazio – Atalanta
Lecce – Sassuolo
Monza – Salernitana
Napoli – Fiorentina

**International break: October 9-17**

Sassuolo – Lazio
Torino – Inter
Udinese – Lecce

Match Day 10 — 29 October 2023

Cagliari – Frosinone
Empoli – Atalanta
Genoa – Salernitana
Inter – Roma
Juventus – Verona
Lazio – Fiorentina
Lecce – Torino
Monza – Udinese
Napoli – Milan
Sassuolo – Bologna

Verona – Monza
Milan – Udinese
Roma – Lecce
Salernitana – Napoli
Torino – Sassuolo

Match Day 12 — 12 November 2023

Lazio vs. Roma, aka the Derby della Capitale, is the marquee fixture on Match Day 12. Also taking place this week is the lesser-known geographical derby between Fiorentina and Bologna known as the Derby dell’Appennino. It gets its name from the Appenine Mountains that separate the two historic cities.

Fiorentina – Bologna
Genoa – Verona
Inter – Frosinone
Juventus – Cagliari
Lazio – Roma
Lecce – Milan
Monza – Torino
Napoli – Empoli
Sassuolo – Salernitana
Udinese – Atalanta

**International break: November 13-21**

Match Day 13 — 26 November 2023

The clash known as the Derby d’Italia takes place on Match Day 13 when Juventus hosts Inter. Other fixtures to watch this week are Atalanta vs. Napoli, Milan vs. Fiorentina, and Frosinone vs. Genoa (a matchup of last season’s top two squads from Lega B).

Bologna – Torino
Cagliari – Monza
Empoli – Sassuolo
Frosinone – Genoa
Verona – Lecce
Juventus – Inter
Milan – Fiorentina
Roma – Udinese

Lazio – Cagliari
Lecce – Bologna
Milan – Frosinone
Monza – Juventus
Napoli – Inter
Sassuolo – Roma
Torino – Atalanta
Udinese – Verona
