Procida From Above

Italy has been under the grip of the “Beast from the East” for the past week. Rome has endured snow, rain, and impossibly grey days.

So I felt compelled to share this photo of sunny Procida, the gentler, lesser developed of the Flegrean Islands, the island group that includes Capri and Ischia.

Last year, we spent four days in Procida at Il Leone di Mare, a quiet, family-run inn with a garden, individual balconies/terraces, and fantastic A/C.

Here was an island to get away from it all, even other tourists (at least non-Italian ones). We spent mornings hiking around Procida – into town, up the mountain, along overgrown ridges with views of the sea. Lunches were long and included heaps of spaghetti, seafood, and wine.
